About

Aaron Bible was born in eastern Tennessee and, although he hasn’t been a full time resident of Greeneville since he was a child, he still considers it home. Bible also calls home the mountains and front range of Colorado, where he has been a resident since 1990. It was here–after completing his undergraduate studies in Journalism at Colorado State University–that Bible gained his reputation as a prolific outdoor and travel writer. He was the Associate Editor at Paddlesport Publishing, and the Content Manager at PlanetOutdoors.com; from 1999 to 2003 he served as Contributing Editor to several national outdoor/lifestyle magazines. From there he completed his Master’s in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Bible characterizes his photographic work primarily as documentary photography. This work, while inflected with a modern style, harkens back to many Southern photographer ideals of nostalgia, the conflict between man and nature, and change. He is perhaps best known for his portraits, which range from isolated studio treatments to extended environmental portraits. He has one photographic book and hundreds of published clips to his credit.

Residing in Frisco, Colorado, Bible currently has more projects going than he cares to admit. In addition to working as a copywriter, editor, art consultant, and commercial photographer, he is applying for grants and researching for a documentary on Appalachia; shooting for his next book on Rottweilers and their owners; continuing to make portraits and Polaroids in continuation of several bodies of work; writing; and teaching photography.

When not behind the camera or in front of the computer, Bible can be found riding his bike, hiking trails, skiing the backcountry, or paddling a kayak. Whether at work or at play, Bible is continually attempting to break new ground and link together stretches of the journey he calls art and life.
